On December 16, 2015, SM workforce across the nation simultaneously held “ChriSMiles,” a

volunteerism activity that has become a yearly Christmas tradition, aiming to benefit kids in

need.

In Mindanao, volunteer employees of SM City Cagayan de Oro, SM City Davao, City General

Santos and SM Lanang Premier gave donations in cash and in kind and shared their time to

give joy to over 200 child beneficiaries.

SM City Cagayan de Oro went the extra mile by granting kids of the mall’s agency personnel

and from DSWD Center for Children a wonderful time in the mall. The kids enjoyed free train

rides and received goodies from the employees.

SM City Davao gave kids from Isla Swerte Day Care Center a fun-filled morning. Kids were able

to showcase their dance talents, meet and greet with Christmas characters - Christmas tree and

candy cane mascots – and rode the mall’s kiddie facilities for free. They also received gifts and

shared meals with mall administration employees.

Meanwhile, in SM City General Santos, children from St. Agnes Orphanage, Substitute Home

for Girls and Gensan Center for Boys and the kids of agency personnel, were treated to mall

rides, gifts and snacks. The appearance and dance number of well-loved mascot, Hamburglar,

also delighted the said beneficiaries.

SM Lanang Premier offered a special Christmas celebration to children of the mall’s security

and janitorial personnel. During the ChriSMiles activity held at the SMX Lobby, employees gave

the kids gifts, and hearty meals. The kids also played games and had a meet and greet with

Manna Restaurant’s adorable official mascots. Parents of the said beneficiaries also

participated in the games during the ChriSMiles activity.

ChriSMiles is an annual project under the Employee Volunteerism Program of SM Supermalls. It

encourages employees to find the deeper meaning of Christmas by being share their blessings

with the needy sectors of the society. For the past years, ChriSMiles has brought smiles to

After starring in nine successful Kapuso Fans' Days allover the country, Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid tours the Tuna Capital of the Philippines, last September 5, for a mini-concert she has bannered for her loyal supporters in Gensan.

The Kapuso Fans Day which is also a part of the celebration of Gensan's charter day and Tuna Festival, which took place at KCC Mall of Gensan's Convention Center around 6pm.

Along with the Bet ng Bayan host on stage is stand-up comic and impersonator Ate Redg who opened the program with a fun-filled production number with the Sing-ala-Regine and Divading contestants.

Saturday, September 5, on the spotlight are Sa Puso Ni Dom's Bela Padilla, along with Glaiza de Castro, Benjamin Alves and Chynna Ortaleza from high-rating afternoon series Dading, who got to mingle with their fans theough a Kapuso Mall Shot at the Atrium of Gaisano Gensan around 3pm.

Valerie Conception and Mona Louise Rey from afternoon prime's family-oriented show, My BFF, together with Eat Bulaga dabarkads Pauleen Luna and Ruby Rodriguez, then top bill an equally-exciting Kapuso Mall Show at SM City Gensan the following day, Sept. 7 at 3pm.

Following the said merrymaking at SM City Gensan is the Bet ng Bayan Provincial Showdown, which served as a call-back for those who qualified in the auditions. Kapuso prime leading man and Bet ng Bayan co-host Alden Richards graced the event. Where yours truly was one of the 10 judges at the event.

This Sept. 9, the network mounts a fun-filled Kapuso Street Party for the fans at the Oval Plaza beginning at 7pm.

From the team that brought us last years G-DayX Mindanao, Google Business Group (GBG) Gensan brings us an even more googlier, G-Day GenSan! The event took place at SM City Gensans Trade Hall 1, last May 3, 2014. 250 participants stormed the trade hall, and were pumped up by a flash zumba session to the tune of Pharells 'Happy', by Donna Mae Congson, from Gensans own Legendz, along with GBG Gensan members.

G-Day Gensans highlights were of course were the talks, participants were dazzled by speakers who bring out the awesomeness of various Google tech available. The Googly event was hosted by quirky Orman Manansala, GBG Gensans Co-Manager. Among those speakers were Gensans own Avel Manansala (Manager of GBG Gensan) Ariel Lalisan (Lead of Google Educators Group-Sarangani), and in place of Mayor Ronnel, Couns. Hon. Dominador Lagare III, Chiclet Rillio (lead GBG Women Gensan) Belida Canlas (Exec. director of GSC Chamber of Commerce & Industry) Job Oberio (System Sales Admin, GenSanSales.com/GBG Trainer), Rap Gregorio (GBG Trainer), Alexis Chua (Cash Mngmt. Specialist, AUB/GBG Trainer), Leizl Oberio and Cindy Bascon (Entreprenours), Rain Ramas (Hotel San Marco Consultant), Gwyn Ann Ebol-Palima (Communications Officer, Dole Phils., Corp.).

Keynote speakers, Ms. Gail Tan,Google Business Community Manager and Ms. Chelle Gray,Google Developer Community Manager, who flew to Gensan to share their thoughts, experiences and GDG and GBG's aims.

In between talks, prizes were given away, served lunch, Q&A floor was opened in order for the participants quires to the speakers. All in all it was a fun filled, inspirational and informative day. Some might argue that technology has its downsides, can't say that its untrue, but its how we use those information available at our fingertips, that define us. It is how we act toward this galaxy of limitless possibilities, whether we use it for our destruction or for our victory.
