Just had and extremely exhausting past few months from prom season to grad season,running a dress shop wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. I rarely find time to just chill and unwind. Luckily something new and exciting made its way to the tuna city, just this March 15, 2014, the Tibiao Fish Spa opened its tubs to the Generals.
Tibiao Fish Spa started its fishy adventure from Tibiao, Antique back in 2009, their Gensan branch is their first branch in Mindanao, after becoming a hit also in Pampanga in 2012, where locals and tourist alike enjoy the fish-tastic therapy.
So when I was able to see an opening in my schedule I immediately took the chance to try this out and unwind. When me and my Mom got into the spa, we were welcomed by their hospitable and jolly staff. Then we were asked to take off our shoes, since our feet have to be disinfected for health and hygiene reasons for the safety of both the customers and the fishes.
Mr. Flord Nicson Caliwag, General Manager and Franchiser of the spa walked us through our first fish spa experience. He's an avid fish collector, and a series of events led to an accidental discovery of the fishes capabilities. Tibiao Fish Spa is the first to use local fish for spa purposes. The fishes on their tanks are specially hybridized species that feed on dead layers of skin, once rough areas became smoother and softer , at the same time the ticklish feel you when the nibble on your feet, stimulate pressure points to relax the body and relieve stress.
When I finally immersed my feet on the tub, I cant shake off the tickling feeling, as my Mom and I laughed, Mr. Flord mentioned that...
“Aside from the fish cleaning your skin, laughter itself is good for you. It relaxes the heart, boosts our immune system, and reduces the level of stress hormones. Plus, we all know it feels good to laugh especially in the company of our family and friends,”
The ticklish feel lasts only a minute or two, was shocked on how fast I got used to the feeling, you could feel the good vibes flowing through your veins. As if the fish are munching your stress away. The music and ambiance also plays a huge role on the Tibiao Fish Spa experience.
The time flew by, I didn't want to leave, but duty called, I had to go. After 30 minutes of fish nibbling action and relaxation, a relaxing foot massage turned out to be the cherry on top of the ice cream.
The Tibiao Fish Spa offers specials on Wednesdays where they have 5 + 1, and birthday celebrants could go for free if they bring along a party minimum of 4 people. The fish spa exhibit will only be in Gensan for 3 months. So move those feet and feed them to the fishes at Tibiao Fish Spa fronting BDO at SM City Gensan.
